October is breast cancer awareness month, a campaign intended to increase knowledge and information. In the U.S. alone, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes. This month, millions of women and men will try to raise both funds and awareness by taking part in thousands of runs, walks, marathons, triathlons and other feats.
All of that activity is likely to result in many happy miles of accomplishment, but also some very sore muscles. Another way to support breast cancer awareness month is to sign up for a selection of spa treatments at the Mandarin Oriental’s world renowned spas. The spas at the swank properties in New York, Boston and WashingtonDC will be highlighting their Inner Strength treatments and a portion of all proceeds are generously being donated to breast cancer research and prevention.
The massage treatments are a terrific way to end a tough day of training or to simply recharge from everyday life. This nurturing new 80-minute Inner Strength massage has been created to ease physical tension and emotional anxiety.
This particular spa offering has been inspired by Aromatherapy Associates’ Inner Strength oil, a blend created by the company’s founder Geraldine Howard to help cope during her own battle with cancer. Healing rose and frankincense provide focus and clarity and the scents of cardamom and geranium help to emotionally balance the mind. The treatment can be customized to focus on any stressed-out body part.
