Vancouver Police have released more information about the abduction of four-year-old Delilah Felton, who is believed to have been taken by her mother Angela Hanley sometime on Thursday and is the subject of an Amber Alert.
Const. Brian Montague said police are increasingly concerned because Hanley is involved in a “high-risk lifestyle” and has no fixed address.
“Delilah has been in the care of a guardian since birth,” said Montague. “Her mother does not have custody.”
“I think people can get the idea that this is someone who doesn’t have the capability to care for a four-year-old.”
Montague said Hanley is known to police and known to frequent Burnaby, New Westminster and Coquitlam, but efforts to locate her in those jurisdictions have come up empty.
He also said that because Hanley doesn’t have access to a car, it is likely she has remained in the Lower Mainland.
‘If you see her, do not approach’
“We are appealing directly to those who know Angela and who may run into her to pick up the phone and contact us,” said Montague.
“We are asking for people to look at photos and keep their eyes open. If you see her, do not approach. Immediately call 911 and keep an eye on her from a safe distance.”
Felton is about three feet tall, weighs approximately 40 pounds and has red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a colourful rain jacket with red flowers on it, along with a black shirt with writing on the front, and black leggings with grey stripes.
Hanley, 46, is five-feet six-inches tall and weighs 139 pounds, also with red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light brown corduroy jacket with a fur-lined hood, along with dark jeans and rain boots.
Police say Felton is suspected to have been taken by Hanley from the East King Edward area of Vancouver.
