The closing ceremony of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris’ 80th anniversary witnessed an attendance of about 1,500 people at Tamukkam Grounds here on Sunday.
Minister for Revenue R. B. Udhaya Kumar, Justice G. R. Swaminathan, Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao, Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar and representatives of the Brahma Kumaris Association addressed the audience. The Minister talked about merits of Rajayoga’ and urged people to switch to a lifestyle that involved peace and happiness. He called it the weapon of power. He lamented the loss of culture and spoke of the frivolity of life by quoting Napoleon Bonaparte’s life. “Earlier, the namaskaram was an elaborate and respectful greeting. Now it has been restricted to a ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’,” he said. “Napoleon wanted to tell people that he came and left the universe without anything. That is the essence of life,” he added.
He said that people no longer laughed freely. “There are laughter clubs in Marina beach because they laugh for help. How times have changed,”. In a lighter vein, he said though he preached the benefits of rajayoga, his schedule would not permit him to practice it.
V.K. Santosh, a senior ‘Rajyogini’ who preaches in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, said that being in the land of Goddess Meenakshi gave her immeasurable joy. “During Kaliyug, Brahma’s light is dim. It is the time for trickery and betrayal. We must find the light within us and ensure that there is happiness and peace,” she said.
