THIS is could be the ultimate kid-friendly home.
While the five-bedroom waterfront property at 10 Beckton Place, Lilli Pilli in New South Wales has plenty going for it, from its water views to its large living areas, it’s the indoor ball pit that really makes it stand out from the rest.
Yes, that’s right a ball pit.

Owners, Peter and Maria Michaels, who must be in contention for some sort of World’s Best Grandparents award, decided to convert their indoor fish pond to a ball pit when their grandchildren came along.

Mrs Michaels did all the work herself, making sure the pit was cushioned inside and installing a slippery slide before filling it with hundreds of colourful plastic balls.
“When we first bought the house it was like a little landscape area under the staircase twenty or 25 years ago,’’ Mr Michaels said.
“We decided to turn it into a fish pond and we had it as a fish pond for ten or 15 years.
“Then when the grandkids came along my wife said ‘I think I am going to turn it into a ball pit’.”

Mr Michaels said people were surprised when they came in the house and saw the huge ball pit.
“They all think it is a great idea, but not many are prepared to do it in their own house,’’ he said.
“Of course the kids go straight into the ball pit, any little kids who come will spend the whole day playing there.’’
Mr Michaels said he hadn’t tried the pit out himself but had spent many hours watching his three grandchildren enjoy it.

Marketing agent Stuart Payne of Burraneer Bay Real Estate Cronulla said he hadn’t marketed a home with a ball pit before.
It was certainly a talking point with potential buyers and it had helped keep children entertained when the parents attended inspections.
The brick home has a lot more going for it than just the ball pit.
It has large formal and informal living areas which lead out onto patios overlooking the water.
One patio has an inground pool with an entertaining area and there is a boat shed with slip rails plus a separate jetty and pontoon.
